The Valentine Keepsake Box by Renae Clark

Valentine’s Day Keepsake Memory Box

This memory box is the perfect keepsake to hold your child’s Valentines’. It can also be given to a grade school girl or boy to keep their Valentine’s Day cards and gifts from their classmates and families. I made this box for my Goddaughter who is in 1st grade this year!
Here’s what you’ll need to complete this project:
Chipboard Cigar Box
Adhesive
Glue Dots
Pop Dots
Pencil
12 inch ruler
Corner rounder
Magnetic closure
Moxxie Love Me Knots Paper (1 sheet)
Moxxie Hugs and Kisses Paper (1 sheet)
Moxxie Bliss Paper (1 sheet)
Moxxie How Do I Love Thee cardstock stickers
Moxxie Lovey Dovey rubons
Moxxie cardmaker rubons
1 yard pink ribbon (1 inch wide)
1 large white flower
1 Black Button and thread
Red alphabet stickers
Black & White cardstock scraps

Let’s get started:

To get started we will line the inside of the box with 2 pieces of patterned paper.
1. Cut 1 piece of “Love Me Knots” for the inside cover at 6 1/8 inches and 6 _ inches.
2. Cut 1 piece of “Hugs and Kisses” for the bottom inside at 6 x 6 inches
3. Adhere both pieces (some additional trimming may made be needed).

Covering the top of the box and sides.

1. Cut 1 piece of “Bliss” for the cover at 6 1/8 x 6 1/8 inches and adhere to top of box.
2. Cut 4 pieces of “Love Me Knots” at 6 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches and adhere to all sides of the box (some additional trimming may be needed)

Decorating the Cigar Box top:

1. Cut a 13 inch length of ribbon and place adhesive on the back side of the ribbon.
2. Wrap ribbon around the cover with open ends meeting on the top center (as shown in Picture 5).3. Cut 1 large white flower in half and adhere over the ribbon offsetting each flower (as shown in Picture 7).

4. Double mat large Love Notes sticker with black and white cardstock, round corners (as shown in Picture 6).5. Place pop dots on the back side and place on the box cover (as shown in Pictures 7 & 8).6. With remaining ribbon create a large bow. Using glue dots, adhere to box top (see Picture 9).7. Cut large coordinating heart from Lovey Dovey rubon set and adhere to white cardstock. Trim closely around heart with scissors (as shown in Picture 10).

8. To create title, place rubons and alphabet stickers on Love Notes sticker (as shown in Picture 11).

9. Adhere large heart rubon over the “Love Notes” words (as shown in Picture 12).
Creating magnetic closure

Trim a 1 1/2 inch strip of pink ribbon and place one end in between the cardstock and box top (as shown in Picture 13).
Using coordinating thread, hand sew the black button to the top of the ribbon (as shown in Picture 14)

Punch 1/2 inch circle from black cardstock and adhere negative magnet to ribbon and punched circle (as shown in Picture 15)

Place positive magnet on the inside of box. Position so that the magnets are close to one another when box is closed.
Give as a gift to your favorite grade school child!
